HEADQUARTERS   LINGUISTIC  C.S.I.  TEAM

Case No. RM.21.03.08:   Stimme aus Deutschland

Received: 0742 today from FBI Chicago Office

Subject:
Decoded Skype intercept from suspected Russian mafia figure referencing a possible assassination of unknown person.  The call originated somewhere in Germany.

Requested Support:  Identify the origin of the call.  Identify the two men on the call. Provide any additional clues that can help solve the case and prevent another Russian mob killing.

Der Linguist's initial case notes:

1. Both individuals on the call are speaking Russian but it is not their native language. What country are they from? What are their native languages?  Is either of them a former KGB, GRU, Stazi, or AVH agent?

2. One can hear German being spoken in the background from the caller's side of the conversation. This is a multi-tiered case with some complex dialectic issues.  Assistance will be needed from German speaking C.S.I. Associates.

3. Der Linguist recognizes a woman's voice, heard in the background, as the call receiver walks into a building talking on his cell phone.  Who is that woman?  Why does Der Linguist recognize her voice?  It is clear that members of the C.S.I. linguistic team will need to go into the field to solve this assignment.
